Copyright Policy

Last Updated: August 22, 2026

1. User Responsibilities

You may upload, submit, or otherwise provide content to Owlo only if:

  • You own the content;
  • You have permission or a valid license to use it; or
  • Your use is otherwise permitted by applicable law, including fair use or another copyright exception.

You are responsible for ensuring that your content and use of the Services do not infringe another party’s intellectual property rights.

Content being publicly available online, used in a classroom, or intended for educational purposes does not necessarily mean it may be copied, uploaded, distributed, or otherwise used without permission.

Owlo may remove or restrict access to content that it reasonably believes violates this policy or applicable law.

2. User Content and AI-Generated Output

You retain any ownership rights you may have in content you upload or submit, subject to the limited license granted to Owlo under our Terms of Service.

Owlo may process user-provided content to generate:

  • Study guides and summaries;
  • Flashcards and quizzes;
  • Notes and outlines;
  • Explanations; and
  • Other AI-assisted learning materials.

AI-generated output may be based on user-provided content, instructions, third-party information, or patterns learned during model training. Because laws governing AI-generated material continue to develop:

  • Owlo does not guarantee that an output is eligible for copyright protection;
  • Owlo does not guarantee that an output will be unique;
  • Similar or identical output may be generated for other users; and
  • Owlo does not guarantee that output will be free from third-party intellectual property claims.

You are responsible for reviewing output before using, submitting, publishing, sharing, or commercially exploiting it. You may not use Owlo to reproduce or distribute copyrighted material without authorization or another valid legal basis.

3. DMCA Copyright Infringement Notices

If you believe that material available through the Services infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to enforce, submit a written notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) to Owlo’s designated copyright agent.

Your notice must include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature, or the signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner;
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed or, if multiple works are involved, a representative list;
  • Identification of the allegedly infringing material and information reasonably sufficient for Owlo to locate it, such as a URL, account name, document title, or screenshot;
  • Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
